Hmm, I just noticed that I didn't blog the latest update in my quest to be unmarried. My motion for a continuance was a success, and my new court date is May 12th. On April 27th, the soon-to-be-ex and I attended the required seminar on how-not-to-wreck-your-children's-minds over the divorce. So as far as I can tell all the prerequisites are met, and it should be smooth sailing from here on in. Just get me to the church court on time.

The celebration party is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, May 15th.

OK, so I've been doing the FlyLady thing for a couple of days now, and I wanted to share my experiences. First of all, I always get dressed to shoes every morning, so that's nothing new. They would look at me funny if I showed up to work in a bathrobe and slippers. Then, sometime while I'm making breakfast, I put away the dishes from the previous night. I rinse the dishes we use for breakfast and leave them in the sink when I go to work. While I'm at work I delete the hundred or so "FlyLady Reminders" (gotta keep that clutter under control!) When I get home from work, I feed the dogs outside. While they're out there I use that time to dustmop all the downstairs floors. If I skip even a day of this it looks like a truckload of tribbles exploded in my kitchen. Then I make dinner, and after I'm finished, I do the dishes and dry out the sink (I used to only do my dishses once a week and I have no dishwasher, so this alone makes a big difference). I leave the dishes drying in the rack overnight. That's about all I've added to my routine so far.

In addition to that, I occasionally take time to tackle a "hot spot" of clutter collection. So far, I've done my dining room table (previously my mail collection point), my coat closet (coats in there from when my son was 4, I think), and my couch (used to take the place of the coat closet).

So far I feel pretty good about the progress I'm making. It's not much, but progress is better than congress, or regress, or whatever.

In an effort to make my house more homey, I signed up with the FlyLady list, as recommened by Karen. Wow. I'm getting bombed by these 'reminders' to the tune of about 20 a day. They must think I sit at home all day. Well, I'm still going to try some of the stuff, but when I'm at work getting these 'reminders' I'm just going to delete them...

OK, what the heck. I got nothing better to do than these silly quizes, so here's another one -

I'm well on my way to becoming a lawyer. Today I had to draft and file a motion for continuance. The earliest available required parenting class available to us was April 27th (they fill up very quickly), and our final hearing court date was the 21st. So, I submitted my motion to continue with the clerk of courts and I should be receiving a new court date sometime after we have the required class. Saved myself a wasted trip to court. Nifty.

OK, I almost never do these silly little quizzes, but every once in a while, one gets my attention. So...

entrancing
You have an entrancing kiss~ the kind that leaves
your partner bedazzled and maybe even feeling
he/she is dreaming. Quite effective; the kiss
that never lessens and always blows your
partner away like the first time.

What kind of kiss are you?

Chillin' today. All I did is move two trees. My house has some oddly placed trees. So, with great expenditure of calories, I adjust them. Someone somewhere once said something like, "A wise man adjusts himself to his environment. A fool tries to adjust the environment to himself. Therefore, all the progress in the world is made by foolish men."

Jammin' music list for today -

Apologies to those with image-impaired browsers, I couldn't figure out how to export that list as text in short order.

I purchased a feed tube for the downstairs toilet on my way home from work and installed it when I got home yesterday. Ran a few test flushes, and everything looked ok. I woke up this morning and checked on it, guess what? Big puddle underneath. It seems the floater-shutoff-thingy doesn't shut completely off, and it continues to fill the tank at a very slow rate, up to the handle where it leaks out. So, the one non-porcelain part that I didn't replace, needs replacing. However, there is an overflow tube that is too tall to be of any use. I plan to cut that down so that the tank won't overfill anymore. Depending on the leakage rate, I may just leave it like that. I have a well and water doesn't cost me anything.

Today sucked. First thing in the morning I realize that stupid daylight savings time started and I'm an hour behind. So I call the ex and tell her I'll be late picking up my son and rush off to the Laundromat. I went through McD's on the way, and they gave me some horrid biscuit thing instead of what I ordered. The Laundromat went fine, but I ended up an additional hour late because I had to stop to call my mom. I was able to jedi-mind-trick the ex into not giving me a hard time about it, and headed back home. I stopped to get a coffee at Arabica, and ordered the flavor coffee - butterscotch. They gave me something that tasted like Amaretto. I hate Amaretto. Then at home, I decided to do something productive and fix the toilet downstairs, which has been out of service for a long time. So long that I wasn't really sure what was wrong with it in the first place. I thought it was the flapper thingy, so I replaced that and turned on the water. Major leakage all over. Turned the water back off and headed out to Lowes to buy replacement seals all around. Put all that on, sealed up the tank nice like and turned the water back on. Still leaking, from the feed tube, which I wasn't thinking about. Turned the water back off to fix another day. At least now I know what's wrong with it. Maybe next paycheck I'll buy that part. I've spent too much this paycheck already. I know I’m rambling, but that’s how rants go. I hope the rest of the week isn't like this.

Update: I lost track of time while posting this, and burnt dinner. My son fell asleep, so either I wake him up so he can eat, in which case I'll never get him back to sleep again, or I let him sleep and he'll probably wake up in the middle of the night starving. I'll try option two. That way I can just go to bed too, and hope for a better day tomorrow. After waking up in the middle of the night to feed my son. Urg.

Update2: Burnt my mouth trying to eat burnt pizza. As if. I'm going to bed. F- this noise.

I suppose I should make mention that my official divorce date is set for April 22nd. This will be the day my soon-to-be-ex and I stand before the judge whilst the marriage contract is sundered apart by his or her gavel. However, get this - prior to appearing in court we have been ordered to attend and pass a parenting class. How bass-ackwards is that? Would it not make more sense to have the parenting class prior to the having of children, rather than after the demise of a marriage? I dunno, maybe it's not what it sounds like, we'll see.

Oh, I just noticed todays date. Your shoe is untied.
